The brain has no fences to separate different areas from each other. Each specific area flows into each other just like a meadow flows into a river or forest. And this allows the brain the ability to use other areas at the same time to strengthen the information coming in and the commands that have to go out.
And when one normal flow is disrupted, it results in the disruption of other areas and vice versa.
Recent Brain Research
Recent brain research makes us look differently at the brain and its amazing functions. The more we learn about how the brain works, the more we realize the intricacies of all the processes which bind together to create the ability to learn. There are many processes involved including visual, auditory, cognitive, speech, language, attention, and motor which all together allow us to read, hear, see and learn. Each individual brain site presents its own contribution and its possible interference in the whole.
APD Evaluations
Audiology Solutions LA’s objective is to engage with other professionals in a multi-professional model to provide comprehensive auditory evaluations to children with various learning problems. We evaluate children as early as 5 years.
The APD evaluation includes:
- Review of previous assessments by other professionals including IEPs from the school.
- Assessment which lasts 1 ½ to 3 hours
- Report
- 1 to 1 ½ hour telephone conference with the parents to discuss and explain the test results.
Cydney Fox, Au.D., Doctor of Audiology
Cydney holds a doctoral degree in Audiology from the George Osborne School of Audiology at Salus University in Pennsylvania. She is Board Certified in Audiology. Dr. Fox has been working with and assessing Auditory Processing Disorders since 2007.
She belongs to IGAPS (International Guild of Auditory Processing Specialists) and Pathways, an international group of professionals who provide APD services to children and adults around the world.
