Happy Moods Help Cognitive Performance
I received so many hits and finger wagging on how negative my last blog was that I decided to post something HAPPY. Did you know that a Good Mood can boost brain performance? A study of a group of 46 adults, aged 63-85, showed this. Half the group received a thank you note and gift bags of candy and half did not. Analysis of the cognitive performance of the study participants revealed that those who received the mood-boosting gifts of appreciation did significantly better at tasks involving decision-making and working memory than participants who received no gift. So the conclusion is that simple methods to improve mood can help improve cognitive functioning and decision performance in older adults….
