Growing Hair Cells to Improve Hearing

At the recent California Academy of Audiology Conference held in Berkeley, CA on 9-20-12, research was presented on using Math 1 and injecting it into the cochlear via the round window. This process is inserted using a virus. It seems to propogate funciotnal hair cells growth in mice. It is hopeful that this will eventually be able to be tested in humans who have significant hair cell loss and subsequent hearing loss.
