So I got my bimonthly newsletter Mind, Mood & Memory which I use to post articles of interest on my blog. Could not believe how depressing all the articles were this month.

So let’s talk about your skin. According to a new research study of 1102 individuals with an average age of 79, results found that participants who developed non-melanoma skin cancers were 80% less likely to develop Alzheimer’s disease than those who did not develop those cancers.

Great.  Is this an encouragement to develop skin cancer?

Then on the car radio, the news station was touting a study that said if you use sun screen, over a 4 year period, your skin will not age. Of course, my dermatologist and primary care doc told me that osteoporosis has increased over the years because of the emphasis placed on sun screen. You have to expose yourself to the sun for at least 20 minutes daily to get the Vitamin D it provides into your body and bones.

Also, direct sun decreases depression.

So there you have it. What do you want to do???????

I think moderation continues to be the best recourse as it seems to be in all areas of food, drinks, health, family, and life. So I will continue to get my sun in the mornings as I run all my errands and use sun screen in the afternoon hours and hope that I will be protecting myself from most of the bad stuff that is out there.

Now, on to basal cell carcinomas…….
